Program overview

The university-wide educational programs operated by the Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Education aim to cultivate “co-creative experts” who can ①make full use of DS & AI, ➁collaborate using DS & AI, ③educate and guide others in DS & AI.
To specifically cultivate the ability to educate and guide DS & AI (③), the Teaching Fellow (TF) Program has been implemented since the 2024 academic year.
This program is designed to support the Development of Expertise and the Development of
Teaching Ability in parallel, ultimately enabling participants to reach a level at which they can independently conduct classes in DS & AI.

Features

●This program is open to students affiliated with Science and Engineering, regardless of their area of specialization or prior TA experience. (☆)
●Participants can develop both teaching ability and expertise.
●Upon being certified as a Teaching Fellow, participants will receive a certificate of certification (open badge).
Open Badges are digital certificates compliant with international technical standards, protected by robust security systems against forgery and tampering.
They can be attached to email signatures, cover letters, resumes, or displayed on various platforms like social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, X) and websites to showcase achievements.

●Even after being certified as a Teaching Fellow (TF), participants can continue to enhance their teaching ability and expertise by delivering portions of courses offered by the Center for DS & AI Education.

Completion criteria

(☆) Teaching Assistants (TAs) are recruited and appointed from all schools in the science and engineering, regardless of their area of specialization. As a general rule, we recruit TAs twice a year (around July-August and December-January). Please check the details on our website.
(☆☆) Points will be granted according to the level of TA (Teaching Assistant) experience. Earning the designated points is one of the requirements for progressing to the next stage.
(☆☆☆) Certification for BTA, ATA, and TF is carried out twice annually, typically in September and March. “The Steering Committee” refers to the steering committee of the Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Education.
