In today’s digital information society, the roles of mathematics, data science, and AI are rapidly expanding, and are increasingly fundamental to various activities in society, industry, research and development, and other areas.

The Center of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence aims to help students develop the competencies that will eventually enable them to leverage data science and AI knowledge to solve problems in wider fields beyond their specialization. To this end, we take full advantage of Tokyo Tech’s strengths in science and engineering, and implement a university-wide education program from literacy to expert level plus in an integrated manner.

Equivalent to first-year undergraduatesLiteracy level

The goal is to acquire basic skills in mathematics, data science, and AI, and to acquire the basic skills to utilize them.
The program has acquired MDASH Literacy certification (Approved Program for Mathematics, Data science and AI Smart Higher Education) in AY2023.

Equivalent to second-year undergraduatesAdvanced literacy level

Building on knowledge from the literacy level, the goal is to acquire higher-level progressive knowledge and practical skills, and to acquire the skills that lead to the expert level.
The program has acquired MDASH Advanced Literacy certification (Approved Program for Mathematics, Data science and AI Smart Higher Education) in AY2024.

The goal of students is to acquire competencies required of “co-creative experts” in data science and AI technology, who are able to use it to solve societal problems, apply it across different disciplines, and teach the subject to others.

The goal for students is to emerge as top-level researchers and engineers equipped with expertise in cutting-edge data science and AI technologies such as generative AI essential for problem-solving, as well as a profound understanding of AI ethics, information-related legal frameworks, and technologies facilitating the responsible use of AI in society.
