Program overview

The University-wide Education Program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (advanced literacy level) is mainly intended for second-year undergraduate students who have completed the literacy level. The program provides a wide range of opportunities to acquire the grounding and practical skills of the advanced literacy level in mathematics, data science, and AI that are essential regardless of the specialization of the school to which you belong. This program is designed to serve as a bridge to expert level education in graduate courses.

Eligible Students

Students enrolling in the undergraduate school program in AY2021 or later.

Course structure and completion criteria

Students take "Computer Science II " (Basic science and technology courses (Computing and information science)), "Basics and Applications of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence I" and "Basics and Applications of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence II"(a university-wide 200-level course), and are required to acquire the respective credits (total of 3 credits) to complete the advanced literacy level.

The following application and registration are needed for the course to be recognized as completed.

*Students enrolled in AY2024 or later are not required to register for (2) Educational Programs.

*Completion of the Literacy Level is not needed to apply for the Advanced Literacy Level. However, some of the goals of the Advanced Literacy Level are designed on the premise of content learned in the literacy level.
You can register either before or after taking part or all of the courses required for completion.
Additional course registration is possible. In such cases, you must complete both (1) and (2) above. Performing only one will not be reflected to the other.

Completion of this Program

An open badge, as shown below, will be issued as a certicate electronically to those who have completed this program.
