DS&AI seminar “Social Issues of Generative AI”

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 12:30 to 13:10, we held the event “Social Issues of Generative AI” at Taki Plaza, a student exchange facility on the Ookayama campus of Tokyo Institute of Technology. Since it was during the lunch break, students were able to easily participate in the event, which attracted about 25 on-site and 51 via Zoom online, total 76 participants, ranging from first-year undergraduate students to doctoral students in the graduate school.
The lecturer, Kenji Suzuki, Specially Appointed Professor at the Center of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, explained the social issues of generative AI, which is undergoing rapid technological innovation. The event was a great success, with students actively asking questions about unsolved social issues. This event is only an introduction to the social issues of generative AI so that everyone can easily understand it.
If you would like to learn more, please take Advanced Data Science and AI III (DSA.A503) and Progressive Advanced Data Science and AI III (DSA.A603) for graduate students, which will be newly offered from 4Q (December 6, 2023). Aiming to enable students to think about ethical, legal, and social issues in today’s information society, the course will cover AI ethics, governance, privacy, security, explainable AI, fairness, and generative AI in seven lectures.
